A safe place tobreathe
Gentle, person-centred counselling for adults who feel anxious, overwhelmed, burnt out, or a little lost. We go at your pace, and nature helps along the way.
What people bring
You don't need a "big enough" reason
If something is weighing on you, that's reason enough. You don't have to have it all worked out before we start. Here are some of the things people often come to me with.
For women, and for men
I work with adults of all genders. I've noticed that women and men often arrive carrying different things.
For women
Many of the women I see are holding everyone else together: children, parents, work, a household. Motherhood, menopause and burnout can leave you wondering where you went. Counselling gives you room to put it all down and remember who you are.
For men
Many men tell me they've never talked like this before. I'm straightforward and direct, so there's no fluff. We can keep it practical, look at what's really going on under the pressure, and work out what to do about it.
My approach
Warm, honest and practical
I'm an integrative counsellor, which means I draw on different approaches to suit you rather than fitting you into one.
Person-centred, and honest
You're the expert on your own life. I listen without judgement and follow your lead. I'm also straightforward, so when you need a gentle push, I'll give you one.
Nature-informed
Grounding and mindfulness practices drawn from the natural world help settle a stressed nervous system.
Room for creativity & fun
Feeling well takes more than coping. I'll encourage you to make space for hobbies and creativity that lift you out of the everyday, and give you journal prompts to keep reflecting between sessions.
Practical tools
Sometimes you need space to process, and sometimes a nudge toward action. I bring coaching tools in when they help.
Even in the rain
Nature, even online
Bring the outdoors into your sessions
Our sessions are by video, but nature still plays a big part. You're welcome to join from your garden or a park bench. Between sessions I'll suggest small things to try outside, such as:
- A sit spot: ten minutes in the same outdoor place each day, just noticing.
- Animal senses: my short guided video for waking up your senses outdoors.
- A phone-free walk: twenty minutes where the only thing to do is look and listen.
- Noticing the season: what's changed this week on your usual route?
- 21 Days of Mindful Moments: my free series of short videos, on YouTube.
None of this is compulsory. If getting outside feels hard right now, we start wherever you are.
How it works
From first hello to regular sessions
Get in touch
Send me a message through the contact form. A few lines is plenty.
I'll reply by email
I'll answer your questions and we'll check I'm the right fit before you book.
Your first session
We get to know each other and talk about what you'd like from counselling.
Regular sessions
Usually weekly or fortnightly. We'll review how it's going together.
- 55 minutes, online by video
- Weekly or fortnightly
- Nature-based practices between sessions
The same 55-minute session, plus a personalised resource afterwards, tailored to exactly what we explored, so the momentum doesn't fade between appointments.
I had tried a few therapists before which weren't quite right for me, and I'm now confident that her approach to therapy is exactly what I've wanted. Lea's sessions are quite relaxing and I actually look forward to them.
In our time together, I've learned an incredible amount and gained a much deeper understanding of myself.
A really wonderful, amazing human. Sunshine if they were a person, so understanding and beautifully human. So glad Lea is my therapist, very understanding with those who have autism/ADHD.
She's very kind and provides a lot of tools and resources to help manage topics brought up in session. Her energy is very comforting and I would highly recommend choosing her as a therapist.
Questions
Things people often ask
How many sessions will I need?
It's different for everyone. Some people come for six to eight sessions, others for longer. We'll check in regularly about how it's going, and you can stop whenever you choose.
Is it confidential?
Yes. What you share stays between us. The only exception is if I believed you or someone else was at serious risk of harm. I'll explain this fully before we begin. I work within the NCPS Code of Ethics.
What if talking online feels strange?
Most people find it feels natural within a few minutes, and many like being able to talk from somewhere they feel comfortable. All you need is a private space, a phone or laptop and a decent internet connection.
Do I have to go outside?
Not at all. Nature-based practices are an invitation, never a requirement. We'll find what works for you.
What's your cancellation policy?
Sessions are paid for by bank transfer (BACS) when you book. If you need to cancel, please give me at least 48 hours' notice and you'll get a full refund. If you cancel with less than 48 hours' notice, the session isn't normally refunded, though I may make an exception at my discretion. The full details are in my payment and cancellation policy.
Can you help in a crisis?
I'm not an emergency service. If you're in danger, call 999. You can talk to Samaritans for free, any time, on 116 123.
Ready to talk?
Send me a message. There's no pressure and no commitment. I'll reply by email so we can see if we're a good fit.
